Where can the dog crate be placed?
Posted on: Apr 14
Many people are often confused about where to place the dog crate in their homes. Some people like to have it on the ground somewhere, while others prefer to put it on an upper level of the house. Others might want their dog crated upstairs, but their children up there. This article looks at various places that could be used as locations for your dog's crate!

1. Living Room

Usually, when placed in the living room, a dog crate will be between two couches or chairs so that he feels comfortable and can relax. This gives him a place to sleep peacefully if he has had enough activity and needs to rest before continuing with his day. A dog crate in your living room space isn't necessarily a bad idea if it is near where you are while watching television or relaxing. It also doesn't isolate him from you completely. He can still hear you, and it is easy for him to make his way back to you if he needs a break.

2. Kitchen

If your dog will stay for long with you in the kitchen during the day, it is one of your best options. It gives him somewhere to relax and feel comfortable while also giving you somewhere to put food out for him. While this isn't necessarily ideal, it might work well if he's willing to play and won't mind being crated.

3. Bedroom

If you are looking to crate your dog in the bedroom, this is not the best idea. While it might work well for some dogs, others would be much happier if they spent the time outside of the crate while in the bedroom. As stated before, a dog crate should be a comfortable place for your pet to be.

4. Garage

If you are training your dog to stay in the crate and moving him outside of the house often, you should consider putting him in his crate in the garage. If he is used to being crated when he is outside, it won't be much of a problem for him to go and relax in his crate while out there. This is especially true if you train your dog to go outside on command so that he doesn't need to be crated out of your sight. This will also help prevent damage to anything inside the car if other dogs or pets do not already damage it.

5. Basement

If you plan to spend a reasonable amount of time in your basement, you should consider putting your dog's crate down there. A dog crate in the basement would give him a place to nap away from other dogs and kids, letting him calm down when he needed it. It would also help prevent any destruction that might take place.

6. Attic

If you are looking for an isolated location for your dog crate, the attic might be one of your best options. This can also be an excellent location for small dogs who shouldn't be crated with big dogs, so keeping the two separated is best.

7. Home Office

If you are looking for the best location for the crate but not too far away from your main living space, the home office might be ideal. It gives him a comfortable place to relax that is still easily accessible for you, but it isn't as far away from the rest of your furniture as the bedroom. This can make it easier on both you and your dog if he needs to escape from something or someone.

Where you put your dog's crate is entirely up to you! It all depends on your dog, how he acts,

and what you can handle. Hopefully, this article has helped give you some ideas for where to place your pet's crate in the home.
